After I Was Confessed, the Young Lady Looked Strange Chapter 1.2

Part 2

"Um, um... Tendou-san, can I talk to you for a moment...?"

Just after finishing P.E. class, getting changed, and stepping out of the locker room, this girl called out to me. I don’t really know her. She doesn’t seem familiar, so she’s probably from another class... maybe even one of the ‘external students.’

If there’s one thing I can say about her... well, she’s absolutely adorable, like a little animal. Definitely not the type with a strong personality. For her to approach someone like me, whom she doesn’t know, must have taken a lot of courage.

"Sure. I don’t mind. What is it?"

"I have something I want to give to Kagehito-kun..."

"...Something you want to give him?"

Someone, please praise me for not freezing up. Seriously, anyone.

"Yeah. A little while ago, he helped me out with something..."

"...Sorry, I don’t know anything about this. Can you tell me more?"

She began explaining in detail.

She had been walking through the plaza in front of the station when a man started harassing her.

He kept pressuring her to go with him, and she was too scared to shake him off.

Then, Kagehito came along and helped her.

He was like a prince on a white horse—so cool... Ah, this girl seems a bit dreamy. This is the type I’m dealing with this time, huh...

"I see... so that’s what happened. I didn’t know. Thanks for telling me."

Yep, I really didn’t know. Such an important story, and I had absolutely no clue.

"So, what is it that you want to give to Kagehito?"

"This... here..."

The girl took out a cute, pink-wrapped package.

This texture... baked goods. Cookies. Most likely homemade.

"These are to thank him for helping me... Would you mind giving them to Kagehito-kun for me?"

"...Are you sure you don’t want to give them to him yourself?"

Once again, someone, please praise me for not freezing up. Seriously, anyone.

"Um... if I meet him in person, I’ll just remember what happened, and I’ll get embarrassed... But I wanted to make sure I gave my thanks quickly..."

"I see... Well, I’ll make sure to hand them over for you."

"Thank you so much...!"

"Young lady, how was your P.E. class?"

"It was okay. …More importantly, here. Take this."

"What is this? Cookies...?"

"They're a thank-you gift for helping someone out in front of the station. Make sure you eat them properly."

"Ah, from that time..."

"...Kagehito. We're making a stop on the way home today."

"I don't mind, but... where exactly?"

"Hmm, how about the plaza in front of the station?"

"There shouldn’t be anything new there, though..."

"That's fine. We're going anyway... I can’t afford to lose."

This is a problem. If I let my guard down, one day I might suddenly hear, "I’ve found someone I love," as if it’s a foregone conclusion. I have to act quickly.

But a typical approach would just lead to the same result as before. I need to change the pattern, or it might end in failure again. I need something new... maybe enlisting someone's help?

If I’m going to do that, it should be from a different perspective—not another girl like me, but a guy like Kagehito. Someone who knows Kagehito as a friend, outside of when he’s with me.

If only I had an ally like that…
